I have just made a mental note to use that blur around the shoulders in a portrait next time I can remember, as that looks seriously cool.
Heehee, I'm actually happy you drew him without his fancy pants clothes, I personally enjoy seeing him all roboty, and informally he doesn’t at all mind either. Speaking of robotics, you are brave for taking on this particular fella and his funny face, and you did just fine. All kinds of bonus points to you for trying something new and kicking its butt- in my experience humans are hard even for people who drawn them lots, so go you.
So totally stoked you read through that monster post I did for Destastiel and that you enjoyed it! Tom's totally one of my babies so I'm always thrilled to the toes when he's found to be interesting.
Man, I'll say it again: dat coloring style.
The robotic parts actually looked easier to do than the clothes, to me, I don't know why
The coloring was pretty simple, I remembered a tutorial =Feyrah made long ago. It's all on one layer set to multiply, with the color layer hidden, and a low opacity brush. Basically I paint then pick a color in the area I just pained, thus picking a less "strong" color, then painting again to make the transition smoother... I do prefer how your shading looks, though
Haha, I always feel like I can't quite make 3D-like shapes, with lighting being so "abstract", (no math formula to do it...). But I guess I've got the bases. Now all I need to do is observe and practise until I die

(Though now that I look back at it, I really feel guilty for drawing him "naked". He would merit having his top hat and classy outfit... but I thought I'd have too much trouble with it if I tried XD)
